Shout Hooray!

Well, we made it to Three with no brain damage (to speak of). We may be late to the "Posting about it" party, but we certainly weren't late to the actual party:

Don't be alarmed, he spends most of his life in this sort of position.
He woke up to all sorts of friendly faces wishing him a happy birthday:
Don't be alarmed, his face spends most of its life in this sort of position.
Everyone was so excited for his birthday, DC and Marvel put aside their differences to take a picture together (sorry for the divorced parents humor, it's kind of my gig):

Just between you and me, though, Topher is definitely a Marvel kid. He has quoted Stan Lee before. Unfortunately that is not a joke.
Enough with the yapping though, what did he get? Let's go to a clip!

Super thanks to everyone who sent Topher stuff! He is a pretty excitable kid and it never gets old to see that look of pure joy on his face (or hearing him say "Dreen Doblin!"):

There's one of those looks now.
Megan totally rocked it when it came to picking a cake.

And I think the Wal-Mart people totally rocked it when it came to making webs out of frosting.
Enough with the yapping though, how did it taste?

Any more questions?
The bigger question is what happened after the cake. Your answer:

Plus a night full of nightmares for everyone who had some.

Anyways, I think that's it. Thanks for stopping by. Megan's already cooking up a post for Halloween, so we may be back sooner rather than later, so hopefully we'll see you soon.

104 hours

Hello everyone,

A three week turnaround is not too bad in my book. The pictures are not good quality this time, for some reason. Click on them for better resolution.

You may be aware, but we were hit by a Hurricane tropical storm two weeks ago.

Is that all?

The storm itself wasn't actually a big deal. Our only major loss was a pumpkin plant.

Which wasn't producing any pumpkins anyway, so good riddance.

We wouldn't have really noticed anything had we not lost power at 11:00 am on Sunday.

That's when things got silly.

We discovered that we like electricity a lot.

Turns out Topher gets more traumatized by an iPod dying than by Bambi's mom dying.

We thought were well prepared until it came time to make some toast.

This is the only photo I've ever seen that makes my head look small.

For future reference, the lighter method doesn't really work. The sterno and a sideways cheese grater method on the other hand...

...doesn't work that well either, actually.

By day three we mostly just opted for the "Let's go to Applebee's" method.

Besides the food situation, things went well. Well... except for the looting.

He did come out with an awesome boombox, though.

It wasn't until Thursday at 7:00 pm that the lights came back on. The time in the dark did give us some good family bonding time:

100% pure bonding. Right here, folks.

We're glad everything is back to normal. Thanks everyone for your prayers and concern.

Photo Dump

Hi Folks,

I hope you have a broadband internet connection, because we have some major catching up to do. It's mostly going to be pictures and captions, but I bet you knew that already. I believe this is where we left off:

He is a pretty happy boy. And a sharp dresser.

People seem to worry a lot about how Truman and Topher get along. I'm happy to report that they have been good friends from the start.

I just wish I knew what the joke was that Topher apparently just cracked.

What neither of them have been from the start, however, are good sleepers, so this picture is what Megan and I figure Paradise looks like.

The couch is Topher's preferred sleeping area, as evidenced by the drool marks. Don't worry, we only let Truman sleep there for photo ops. We'll do anything for a photo op.

Truman has been a barrel of laughs. It takes almost zero effort to get him laughing.

Getting a snort out of him is a rare treat, though. The kind of thing that parents live for.

Truman has been hard at work since we last blogged. Here he is practicing "I'm a Little Teapot":

I may be biased as his father, but I think that he totally nailed that handle.

But he mostly spends his time just being darn cute.

His mother is an excellent teacher of such things.

We took a trip to Utah since we last blogged and had a great time.

We had a few panic attacks due to the lack of trees, but otherwise things went fine.

This smile brought to you by buckets and buckets of sand.

It was a good time for the boys. Megan and I had fun, too. Megan ran a 5K. She is amazing!

I know we caught Megan in a little bit of a weird pose here, but there are way weirder people in this picture. Seriously... just look around.

And I had sweets for the first time in over a year and a half.

This smile brought to you by the BYU Creamery (UConn's dairy bar can't hold a candle to it).

In other news:

-Topher is potty trained.

Which we think is pretty super.

-Truman is chubby.

But super happy about it.

-Topher had a horrific accident and lost both an eye and a hand.

That's a joke, guys. Don't call about it.

-Truman is eating solid foods.

"Eating," as always, being used in the loosest sense.

-And Topher learned the joy of Root Beer floats.

Joy not actually pictured.

So that is that.

Thanks for stopping by!

Before you go, though, we had a few more features. I just think this is cool:

Here is Truman with Truman O. Angell, chief architect of the Salt Lake Temple:

Better keep working on that mustache, Truman.

And with my Grandpa, from whom he got his middle name, Robert:

As I was reviewing pictures since our last post, I found a striking number of pictures of Topher with creepy people in suits (and one plastic clown). I thought I'd share them:

You know, on second thought, maybe I don't want an egg.

This one doesn't have Topher in it:

Because when I tried to get a picture with Topher and Darth Vader, he freaked out. Imagine this picture:

Times 1000. Topher just needed to get away, so he and I walked over to McDonalds, where we found...

I'm happy to report that Topher has finally developed a sense of Stranger Danger.

Finally, Chester the Cheetah showed up for a 5 mile race that Megan just ran (I told you she was amazing).

Topher actually thought he was Baby Jaguar from Go, Diego, Go! but still wouldn't get closer.

And last, but not least, we have two additions to critter country:

First, a yellow spotted Salamander we dug up while weeding our garden.

And a woodchuck that tried to bite me when I got too close (I had a video of it, but Topher accidentally deleted it).

And now we're done for real. See you in 4 months!

Smiley boys :)

Truman is now one month old!! Here are some pictures from the last two weeks:

Hanging out with a Percy water bottle.

Tru's blessing day! He was such a good baby!

Scott's parents visited and gave the boys lots of kisses :).

Toph wasn't really sure what was going on...

I never got a picture of Truman in his outfit with Scott. Sad times :(.

It's hard work to be a baby...and a grandma!

I love how happy Truman is!! He has the sweetest smile!

Life hasn't been smooth for the last month, but we've had fun and it's getting easier everyday, thank heavens!!

Two Weeks :)

These past two weeks have gone by so fast! Truman feels and looks so much older than when we brought him home from the hospital, and yesterday at his two week check up I discovered why. He's gained a pound and a half since we brought him home!! The Dr. was really surprised (and I was too, although I had noticed his carrier seemed heavy for a newborn :)) to find that Truman weighed 9lbs. 4 oz. and was 21 in. long. Apparently, he's pretty content with his food :).

For the past two weeks there's been plenty of this going on around our house (although not so much for Scott and I...):

He ponders deeply, even when sleeping.

Yes. This is a picture of Topher sleeping on his feet. It's hard work being an older brother and you have to catch a few winks when you can!!

Unfortunately, the two of them sleeping at the same time doesn't happen all that often...

Being a mom the second time around hasn't been easy, but it's already been a lot of fun! I just wish I could sleep as easily as my boys do...
