On Monday Scott had a class from 2-7, so we didn't really plan to do anything. Or so he thought. Scott's schoolmates planned a birthday surprise for him and Topher and I also surprised Scott by showing up:
We ate dinner with Scott's friends and professor. It was so much fun spending time with them and seeing how pleased Scott was that they remembered his birthday. Thanks a bunch girls!!
Scott is only 25, but I think the stress of school, church activities, and helping with Topher are getting to him. A few days ago we found this:
I'm very grateful to Scott's mom for bringing him into the world. I can't imagine my life without him.
On to the random news. Sunday morning we received an interesting call. A gentleman from Japan was at UCONN on business and needed a ride to church. We, of course, agreed to take him. It was a really cool experience to see the differences in our two different cultures. He opened every door for me, would wait until I sat before he sat, and was always deferential towards me. He was so nice! I think it's great that the church is the same everywhere so that someone could come from Japan and still attend the same meetings. When we dropped him off at his hotel after church he gave us a gift:

On top of all of this, Topher has begun solid foods! We took him for his four month check up last week and he is doing great! He was 17 lbs. 8 oz. (90th percentile :) and 25 1/4 inches long. The pediatrician was extremely impressed with him and said that we could start giving him some cereal over the next couple of months. We've started him on rice cereal and I wonder if he likes it?

Happy B-day! I love your blog.
I think a benefit of working with women is that they remember things like birthdays. Even if Scott is getting grey hair, at least it's still on his head. Those are some very pretty sugar cubes and an interesting story. Are you guys on some list? I'm curious how a random stranger would call you guys for a ride to church.
90%, way to go Topher! Will was never above 25% and he just keeps slipping. Poor kid. Solid foods add all sorts of fun new times. Will ate baby food for four days. Not a very good run.
Topher is getting really big! And don,t worry Scott, it happens to everyone eventually.
